The Local Politics team focuses on bringing the vision of a Green New Deal to Durham through its political processes, including local elections, working with coalitions such as Green New Deal for Durham, and more. Our current projects include asking Rep. David Price to co-sponsor the THRIVE Act, researching the development of a potential Green & Equitable Infrastructure Bond for the city, and asking candidates in municipal elections to commit to a Green New Deal and refuse money from fossil fuel companies and Duke Energy. The team currently meets every other Tuesday at 6PM.
